4 Reasons You Need to Stop Using Apple Notes to Write Things Down

Roughly 700M people use Apple Notes, but that does not mean it is the best place to write *things* down

If you have ever owned an Apple device — you probably recognize the pre-installed yellow notepad app icon.

Apple Noes on iPhone

This app is called Apple Notes, and you’d be surprised at how many people refer to it as “the place I write things down on my phone.”

But maybe that is not so surprising considering 1.65 BILLION people own Apple devices and everyone needs a place to write things down.

While Apple is great at a lot of things, here are 4 reasons that Apple Notes is NOT the best place to write things down…

1. Each note starts with a title

While Apple Notes is known for being a quick place to write things down — you still need to create a title for every note you create.

This causes problems because every *thing* you want to write down does not need a title. For example…

  • An item you need from the store
  • An Instagram caption
  • An idea
  • Someone’s name or phone number

2. Having to find an existing note before writing

People love lists. Grocery lists, movie recommendations, and restaurants we want to try, but finding the note when you need to write something down is inefficient.

Let’s use our grocery item example from above. You have a grocery list in Apple Notes mixed in with other random notes. Now, you walk out of the house and think, “I need to get vanilla for cookies later.” You open apple notes and see this…

Now you’re thinking, “what did I need to buy again?”

3. Apple Notes is only for notes

Apple Notes is meant for notes, but how often are we taking NOTES?

On any given day, we have reminders, events, thoughts, ideas, to-dos, and other *things* we want to remember, but do these belong in notes?

Apple’s suggestion? A notes app, reminders app, calendar app, and tasks app. But now our *things* are spread across many apps, with different functionality, and a decision each time we have some*thing* to remember: “Where does this go?”

4. Notes and folders get disorganized

Starting a note for every*thing* you want to remember creates a mess.

Apple Notes turns into a digital file cabinet where you can’t remember where your notes went and where the next one should go.

Messy file cabinet

Creating folders to manage your notes, adding random notes when you don’t have time for a folder, and then finding *things* later… Good luck.

What is the solution to this madness?

Introducing Twos — a quick, easy, and organized place to remember any*thing*.

“Twos” on the App Store

Twos is a simple system of days, lists, and *things* that combines your notes, calendar, reminders, and to-dos all in one.

Creating a to-do

“But Joe, how is that different from writing *things* in Apple Notes?”

Every *thing* you write down in Twos is actually referred to as a *thing*. Unlike text, *things* are their own pieces of information that can be moved, reordered, or shared by tapping a single *thing* or selecting multiple *things*.

This brings me to my last (and favorite) feature, MOVE. Quickly write *things* down the moment you think of them, then select and move those *things* to their appropriate day or list.

Moving *things* to my Grocery list
  1. No need to create a title for every*thing* you want to remember.
  2. No more navigating to a note before writing some*thing* down.
  3. No more spreading information you want to remember across a notes app, calendar app, to-do app, reminders app, notebooks, email, etc.
  4. No more needing to decide where to write some*thing* down.

Download Twos for free on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store and use Twos on any device at TwosApp.com. Twos is also available as a Chrome extension so you can quickly capture *things* from your browser.

Thanks for reading and happy Twosday ✌️
